March newsletter

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says "I'm possible"!

We have made it to the end of the 2022/2023 summer season, a massive congratulations to U11 black on winning their grand final what an outstanding effort! As always there is only a short break between seasons before we are back out on the court with pre-season training kicking off this week on Thursday the 30th of March.

We would like to take a moment to say thank you to the coaches, team managers, volunteers and parents who put so much time and effort into ensuring that our players get out on the court each and every week. Clubs cannot run without the support and many hands make light work so we really appreciate everyone who puts their hand up to help out.

Now to introduce the new president of the Ladybirds Netball Club, Adrian Huckel! Adrian has been involved in netball clubs for many years as well as with SUNA so will bring plenty of experience and guidance to the committee group. Keep an eye out for him at training and games and make sure to say hi! We are super excited to have Adrian on board.

Summer 2022/2023

With the summer season done and dusted let's have a look at how our teams went! As U9s do not play finals the players had a few extra rounds to play, they pulled away with a 1-point win in their final game of the season winning 9-8. U11 white finished 4th on the ladder and made it to the semi-finals before playing a Ladybirds vs. Ladybirds game and unfortunately losing against the eventual premiers. U11 black finished their season strong coming away with the grand final win 21-17 against Cove! U11 red finished 3rd after a very strong season but they lost by 1 goal in the semi-final which knocked them out of contention. Our U13 team finished 2nd and made it all the way to the prelim final. For most of the girls, this was their second season together as a team and they did an incredible job to get this far. Inters black made it to the grand final, an outstanding effort for a team that had a lot of first-season players. Unfortunately, they went down by 9 goals. Neither inter red nor seniors red made finals both having tough seasons from start to finish. Seniors black made it to the semi-finals before being knocked out by Mount Compass, a team they struggled to get a win against during the summer season.

Presentations

All players had a fun time this past weekend playing lawn bowls with their teammates at our summer presentations. Big congratulations to all our trophy winners, best and fairest, runner-up best and fairest and coaches awards. We got to celebrate Kaitlin Garrett, Charliese Heywood-Schapel and Liana Thorpe for reaching 100 games for the club as well as Lana Turbill for reaching 300 games, outstanding effort by all. Also a big congratulations to Leanne Ross for becoming a life member of the Ladybirds Netball Club after many years of dedication.

Season opener

The Ladybirds Netball Club season opener and meet the coach night will be on Thursday the 13th of April from 6:30 pm. This will be a chance for you to connect with your new teammates and your coach ahead of the season starting the week of the 24th of April.
